Starting to homeschool my 2nd and 3rd grader for the summer into next school year but not sure about testing?

New Hampshire requires that you send a letter to the school to inform them of your decision to homeschool. This letter has to be sent every year before the beginning of the school year and "runs out" August 1st of every year. NH also requires yearly testing. My children have already tested in school this year. I would like to start homeschooling this summer but I'm not sure if sending the letter (which would no longer be valid in August) would mean that they would need to test over the summer? I don't want the school to say they need a test done by August because I'm just getting started and I'm planning on using the school's testing at the end of the school year! Any one else know about this?
