Plumber or Hvac tech?

Which would be a better career to get into either Hvac tech or plumber? Right now I live in Denver Colorado but I am thinking about moving to New Hampshire in a few years. Which would be better in both states as far as pay goes and benefits? I know people in these trades make more if their in a union but what would be the pay if you not in a union?
