How do I hint him that Ilike him a lot?

I would just tell him, but because of your age I would do it through facebook or text. Or maybe to take it slow just compliment him with the whole basketball thing. Or if he tells you that he has a game ask him when it is so you can go see him play. He will see that you want to support him.
